Mechanical Technician – Maintenance,

The Field Power Technician will be responsible for preventive and curative maintenance for Diesel engine power generating sets and the interconnecting distribution lines in line with Customer SLA for service delivery.

Responsibilities:

 • Carryout preventive and curative maintenance on Transmission & Distribution power lines between generating stations, substations, switchyards and customer/owned facilities, as per laid down processes and procedures specified in the Quality Management Manual

 • Identifying, diagnosing and repairing system disturbances and abnormalities.

 • Prepare routine maintenance and service schedules for Diesel Engine Generating sets

 • Carryout preventive and curative maintenance on Diesel Engine Generating sets as per OEM and laid down processes and procedures specified in the Quality Management Manual

 • Identifying, diagnosing and repairing system disturbances and abnormalities.

 • Report defects, order for and collect spare parts needed, carry out the repair and give the final report of all repair works.

 • Attend to emergencies on time/ within SLA and carry out first aid works to avoid power breakout as a permanent solution is being carried out.

 • Attend on-site and off-site safety training classes as scheduled by Training Manager.

 • Ensure that the site is clean and in good order.

 • Raise work orders for the replacement of faulty and/or worn-out parts and 

 • Ensure that all works and operations of the site conform to the laid down safety measures.

 • Comply with HSE rules for a safe working environment and personal safety by use of the right tools and safety gear all the time

 • Performing any other related duties assigned to you by your supervisor from time to time

Qualifications

 • Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (power) or related field

 • Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and membership of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) or EPRA or Equivalent bodies in EA

The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is recruiting a Finance Officer. The Finance Officer (FO) will work within the Finance & Administration Department of ACTS.


Core duties of the Finance Officer (FO)

 • Managing payments of the center by ensuring timely processing, adequate supporting documents in line with ACTS policies, accurate project and expense coding, vendor account reconciliations and playing a liaison role between the procurement and the Finance department.

 • Review field expense reports by ensuring accuracy, adherence to ACTS’ policies, proper project and expense coding, follow up on refunds and journal processing.

 • Ensure monthly accounting data is updated in the SUN System on regular basis and adequate review is carried out and corrections implemented when necessary upon approval of the same.

 • Carry out monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts, credit cards, petty cash etc

 • Perform month-end closing activities such as various ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in the accounting data.

 • Ensure finance data is accurately maintained both physically and in softcopy.

 • Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations; withholding tax (WHT), PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, NITA etc.

 • Prepare quarterly Budget vs Actual reports and ensure regular project fund reconciliations.

 • Participate in the design and implementation of internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.

 • Support both project and institutional audit processes.

 • Supervise Accounts assistant and provide guidance when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

 • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field from a recognized Institution.

 • Qualified Certified Accountant of Kenya.

 • Knowledge of Computer Skills and at least one accounting package.

 • At least 3 years’ experience in donor funded set-up.
